| Reverse description | The reverse features a bilingual inscription in Chinese and Manchu script arranged around the central square hole. The Chinese numeral 十五 (Shi Wu, meaning fifteen, indicating 50 cash denomination) and the character 當 (Dang, meaning 'worth') appear above and below the hole respectively, while two vertical columns of Manchu script reading 寶伊 (Boo-i, indicating the Ili mint) flank either side of the aperture. The bold cast characters are typical of Qing provincial mint production. |
