| Obverse description | Cast brass coin featuring four Chinese ideograms arranged in a cruciform pattern around a central square hole, read top to bottom and right to left. The inscription 咸豐重寶 (Xianfeng Zhongbao) appears in regular script (kaishu), with 咸 at top, 豐 at bottom, 重 at right, and 寶 at left. The characters are boldly rendered in the field with broad, even strokes typical of Qing dynasty official mint production. The overall design is plain, with no decorative borders or additional ornamentation beyond the inscription. |
