The top position bears 五十 (wushi, 'fifty') and the bottom position 十 (shi), together denoting the denomination of 50 cash; the right side bears 二兩五錢 (er liang wu qian, indicating the weight value in silver taels), while the left side carries the Manchu legend 'Boo Fu' (ᠪᠣᠣ ᡶᡠ), identifying the Board of Revenue Mint in Beijing. All legends are cast in bold relief against a flat field within a wide raised outer rim.
