Reverse description Central square hole divides two vertical Manchu script inscriptions reading 'Boo-chuwan' (the Manchu rendering of the Chengdu Board of Revenue Mint), one character to the left and one to the right of the perforation. Above the central hole appears the Chinese character 當 (Dang, meaning 'valued at'), and below are the two Chinese characters 五十 (Wu Shi, meaning '50'), together denoting the denomination 'Dang Wu Shi' or valued at 50 cash. All legends are cast in relief in the plain field, consistent with standard Qing large-denomination cash coinage of the Xianfeng era.
