| Reverse description | Plain reverse with a central square hole flanked by raised inner and outer rims defining the flat field. A small cloud motif is visible in the lower portion of the field, a distinguishing feature used to classify varieties of this emission; the cloud may appear above or below the square hole and with the tail oriented to the left or right depending on the specific die variety. The field is otherwise unadorned, consistent with standard Tang Dynasty cast coin reverses. The broad, flat flan and crisp rim are typical of the heavier 50-cash denomination issues of the Qianyuan era. |
