Bolivia's monetary system was under serious strain by the late 1920s, and the 50 Bolivianos denomination of P#116 exists because the Banco Central simply ran short of printed stock and resorted to overprinting existing P#110 sheets rather than waiting on a full new order from ABNC. The overprint solution was common in Latin America during this period but reflects a specific logistical pressure, not a policy redenomination.
Collectors should note that the overprint registration varies considerably across surviving examples — misaligned strikes are the rule rather than an anomaly on this issue.
