Obverse description The Venezuelan national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield with a horse, sheaf of wheat, and crossed flags and weapons, flanked by olive and palm branches. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE VENEZUELA arcs along the upper periphery, with bullet-point separators. The denomination 50 and the word BOLIVARES appear in the lower field to either side of the date, which is struck at the lower left. The design is set within a beaded border.

Reverse description A left-facing bust of Simón Bolívar, the Liberator, is rendered in high relief at the center of the field, contained within an incuse heptagonal border that frames the effigy. The legend BOLÍVAR LIBERTADOR arcs along the upper portion of the heptagon, with the engraver's name BARRE inscribed at the base of the truncation. The entire composition is set within the round coin field with a beaded outer border.
