50 Agorot Kibbutz Nir Eliyahu

Kibbutz scrip occupies a genuinely odd corner of Israeli numismatic history. During the early decades of the state, many kibbutzim issued their own internal currency — chits, tokens, and small paper notes — to manage the cashless collective economy without requiring members to handle official legal tender for daily needs. These pieces circulated only within the issuing community and had no value outside the kibbutz gate.

Nir Eliyahu, founded in 1950 in the Sharon Plain, was among the smaller communities to produce such material. Internal scrip of this kind was rarely preserved with any intention — it was functional paper, used and discarded.
