| Reverse description | Printed entirely in green, the reverse displays a dense guilloche underprint with an elaborate interlaced border. At the centre, a horizontal band of Persian script is flanked on the left by a tughra-style royal seal and on the right by the Afghan state emblem within circular frames. Fine arabesque ornamental work fills the field, and a continuous geometric frame encloses the entire composition. |

Afghanistan's 1928 paper currency was issued under Amanullah Khan's modernization drive, part of a broader push to formalize state finances and reduce dependence on commodity-based exchange. The Treasury, rather than a central bank — Afghanistan wouldn't have one until 1939 — acted as direct issuer, which was an administrative arrangement common to states still building their monetary infrastructure.
Pick 10 is among the earlier Afghan paper issues and survives in relatively small numbers. The watermark security feature is modest by contemporary standards, but for Afghan domestic printing of the period, its presence at all reflects outside technical influence on production.
