| 正面描述 | Central field depicts the interior of the Seokguram Grotto, featuring the iconic seated Shakyamuni Buddha in meditation posture (dhyana mudra) rendered in high relief against the domed stone rotunda with its characteristic coffered ceiling and lotus rosette at the apex. Two muscular guardian figures (Dvarapalas) flank the central Buddha in the left and right fields, each standing against a circular nimbus. A curved Hangul legend arcs along the upper periphery reading the UNESCO World Heritage designation and site name, while the lower field bears the date 2012, the issuing authority in Hangul, and the denomination, all separated by raised dots. |

Seokguram Grotto, carved into the granite of Mount Toham in the mid-eighth century under the Unified Silla kingdom, was rediscovered in 1909 by a Japanese postal worker sheltering from rain — its existence had been effectively lost to institutional memory for centuries. Japanese colonial authorities subsequently dismantled and poorly reassembled the structure, causing moisture damage that required a full UNESCO-supervised restoration in the 1960s before the site's 1995 World Heritage inscription.
The Bank of Korea has issued commemorative silver pieces tied to UNESCO-listed Korean heritage sites across several series. KM#130 belongs to that program.
