The 50,000-rouble denomination was a direct consequence of the hyperinflationary spiral that followed Soviet dissolution — by 1993, the rouble had lost so much purchasing power that denominations unthinkable under the Soviet system became routine instruments of everyday commerce. This note was part of the Russian Federation's effort to manage a currency in freefall before the 1998 redenomination finally struck four zeros from the system.
The printing date of 30 April 1945 in the metadata is clearly a data entry error and should be corrected before this record is published.
