A large central circular vignette, framed by the inscription BANCO NACIONAL ULTRAMARINO, contains an allegorical seated female figure with a sailing ship in the background. Bold numerals "50" appear to either side of the central medallion, all set within intricate guilloche lacework in green, yellow, red, and blue tones; the payability inscription appears in red at upper centre.
