Commenti	Colombia's central bank has printed its own notes at the Imprenta de Billetes in Bogotá since the facility opened in 1959, one of the earlier intaglio-capable security printers established in Latin America under domestic ownership. By 2000, the 50,000 peso denomination was the highest value in circulation, a direct consequence of cumulative inflation through the 1990s that had rendered smaller notes nearly worthless for everyday transactions. The watermark is the sole listed security feature — relatively sparse for a high-denomination note at this date, when many regional issuers were already incorporating security threads and color-shifting inks.
