| 备注 |
Aachen's municipal and district authority issued this 50,000 Mark note during the summer of 1923, when Reichsbank currency was losing purchasing power faster than it could be printed. Local governments across Germany were legally permitted to issue Notgeld to keep commerce moving — Aachen's situation was complicated further by its position in the occupied Rhineland, where French and Belgian troops had been stationed since 1919 under the terms of Versailles.
The Aachener Verlags- und Druckerei G.m.b.H. was a local press, not a specialist security printer, which shows in the relatively modest production values typical of municipal emergency issues from this period.
