| Description de l’avers | Central field depicts a detailed frontal view of Pha That Luang (the Great Stupa), the national symbol of Laos, rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The principal spire rises prominently at centre, flanked by smaller decorative spirelets and enclosing walls characteristic of the monument's traditional Lao Buddhist architecture. The legend 'BANK OF THE LAO PDR' arcs along the upper rim, with the fineness mark 'Ag 925' inscribed vertically to the left of the stupa. The horses are set against a coloured winter landscape with snow-laden fir trees flanking the composition and a Russian Orthodox church with a gold-domed cupola visible in the background. The border is decorated with an ornate wreath of stylised snowflakes and frost foliage rendered in the silver field. Dark storm clouds in the upper field and a black foreground ground enhance the dramatic seasonal atmosphere of the design. |
