Two olive branches flank the arms in the upper field. The date '1998' appears at the top of the coin, and the denomination '50000' is inscribed at the bottom, flanked by the Armenian legend 'ՀԻՍՈՒՆ ՀԱԶԱՐ ԱՐՑԱԽՅԱՆ ԴՐԱՄ' (Fifty Thousand Artsakh Drams). Opis rewersu	Right-facing portrait bust of Monte Melkonian (1957–1993), the Armenian-American military commander and hero of the Artsakh War of Independence, rendered in high relief against a mirror proof field. The dates '1957∙1993' appear to the left of the portrait, with the abbreviation 'ԱՎՈ' (his nom de guerre) inscribed to the right. Below the portrait, three raised fists symbolizing resistance and struggle are depicted above an olive branch.
