Detention center scrip from Vietnam occupies a narrow and poorly documented category. Trại Tạm Giam Vĩnh Long issued canteen coupons of this type for use within the facility, where inmates were prohibited from holding state currency — a policy formalized under the Ministry of Public Security's regulations governing pretrial detention. The scrip allowed controlled purchasing of approved goods and effectively prevented cash from circulating inside the facility.
