Obverse description Dark purple intaglio-printed note dated Ottawa, January 2nd, 1924, with paired oval portrait vignettes at centre: King George V in military uniform at left and Queen Mary in formal regalia and crown at right, set within an elaborate guilloche frame. The large denomination numeral "50,000" appears in all four corners within ornate lathe-work cartouches, with the title "Dominion of Canada" in bold gothic script across the upper centre. Overprinted "SPECIMEN" in red across the lower portion; a manuscript signature appears at lower right, and serial numbers are rendered as zeroes consistent with specimen usage.
