Croatia's 1993 hyperinflation issues were produced under considerable urgency — the country was barely two years into independence and still engaged in active conflict when this note entered circulation. Tumba Bruk in Sweden, one of Europe's oldest security printers with continuous operation since the mid-eighteenth century, handled production, which was a practical necessity given Croatia's lack of domestic printing infrastructure at the time.
Zlatko Jakuš designing and engraving the same note is worth noting — that combination is relatively uncommon and gives the series an unusual consistency of hand.
