| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents a vignette of a Baiana dressed in full ceremonial attire, seated at her traditional board preparing acarajé — a street food of Afro-Brazilian origin. The architectural perspective of the Igreja do Nosso Senhor do Bonfim in Salvador, Bahia, forms the background, evoking the setting of the Lavagem do Bonfim, one of Brazil's most celebrated festivals of religious syncretism. Denomination numerals appear at left and right within decorative guilloche borders. |

The 50,000 Cruzeiros Reais was one of the last denominations issued before Brazil's Plano Real came into effect on 1 July 1994, replacing the cruzeiro real at a rate of 2,750 cruzeiros reais to one real. The note existed in circulation for an extraordinarily brief window — some were still being printed as the new currency was already being distributed.
Brazil cycled through eight distinct currencies between 1942 and 1994, each one a response to inflation that the previous currency had failed to contain. The cruzeiro real itself lasted less than a year.
