Venezuela's chronic inflation during the early 2000s forced the Banco Central to issue this high denomination — 50,000 bolívares — at a face value that had become nearly mundane by the time the notes entered circulation. The bolívar fuerte redenomination of 2008 subsequently rendered the entire pre-reform series obsolete, with the conversion rate set at 1,000 old bolívares to 1 new unit, meaning this note exchanged for just 50 new bolívares.
The printed date of 30 April 1945 in the metadata is almost certainly a catalog or data entry error — that date predates the series by six decades.
