Opmerkingen

Seifhennersdorf is a small textile-industry town in Upper Lusatia, near the Polish and Czech borders — an unlikely place to find a municipal savings institution issuing eight-figure emergency currency, yet the hyperinflation of mid-1923 made this entirely unremarkable across Germany. The Girokasse was the town's local giro savings office, not a commercial bank, and its authority to issue notgeld derived entirely from necessity rather than any formal monetary mandate.

Max Grossmann printed locally, which kept turnaround fast — critical when denominations became obsolete within days. By August 1923, fifty million marks would not cover a newspaper.
