| Opmerkingen |
One of hundreds of Notgeld issues flooding Germany in the summer and autumn of 1923, this Landesbank der Provinz Westfalen note was printed locally in Münster as the Reichsbank lost all practical ability to supply currency fast enough to meet demand. By the time fifty-million-mark denominations were being issued at the provincial level, the figure was already nearly meaningless — weekly, sometimes daily, revaluations were outpacing any press run.
Three signatures — Reusch, Greve, and v. Bruchhausen — suggest a formal authorization structure that sat oddly against the chaos driving the note's existence.
