Opmerkingen

Hennef is a small town on the Sieg river east of Bonn, and like hundreds of German municipalities in the autumn of 1923, its Bürgermeisterei was forced into the notgeld business not by choice but by the collapse of Reichsbank supply. By the time denominations reached eight figures, the notes were being printed and spent within days — sometimes hours — of issue, the ink barely dry before the face value was already insufficient.

Rhenania-Druckerei in Bonn handled output for numerous Rhineland municipalities during this period, which kept turnaround fast but quality unremarkable.
