| Opmerkingen |
Bochumer Verein für Bergbau und Gußstahlfabrikation was one of the Ruhr's industrial giants — a vertically integrated mining and cast-steel operation that, by 1923, found itself printing emergency money simply to meet its own payroll. This was Notgeld at its most functional: a major private employer issuing scrip not for collectors but because the Reichsbank could not supply denominations fast enough to keep pace with hyperinflation.
The 50-million Mark figure, now almost comic, was already insufficient within days of printing. Ruhr industrial Notgeld from this period was often redeemed almost immediately and destroyed, making survivors genuinely uncommon despite the enormous quantities originally run.
