The "Priest's Mill" (Młyn Księży) in Łódź takes its name from the Catholic clergy who operated a water mill on the Jasień river at the site from the early 19th century, predating the industrial explosion that would transform the city into one of Europe's densest textile manufacturing centers. This coin belongs to Poland's ongoing bimetallic 5-złoty series dedicated to historic monuments across the country's regions — a program launched in 2014 that draws on sites often overlooked by mainstream heritage tourism.
The mill complex survives today as one of the few pre-industrial structures remaining in a city otherwise defined by 19th-century factory architecture.
