Additional information

The Nike 5 Złoty design emerged from a 1925 competition to modernize Polish coinage following the country's monetary reform that established the złoty as a stable replacement for the hyperinflated marka. Trial strikes like this one were produced in multiple compositions as the Warsaw Mint and the Paris Mint — which struck the eventual circulation issue — evaluated striking characteristics and alloy suitability. Copper-nickel was ultimately rejected in favor of silver for the circulation type.

ParM designations index pieces from the Paris Mint's own archives, suggesting this essai never left institutional hands.
