| 正面描述 | The Polish state eagle — the crowned emblem of the Polish People's Republic — is depicted facing front at center, with wings spread wide and talons displayed, rendered in bold relief. The circular legend POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA runs around the upper periphery, while the date 1958 appears in the lower exergual area flanked by star ornaments. The design is unadorned save for the eagle motif and inscriptions, presented on a flat field characteristic of trial strike production. |

Poland's 1958 coinage trials were conducted as the government evaluated alloy compositions for a planned redesign of the five-złoty denomination. Multiple metals were tested — brass, aluminum, and cupronickel among them — producing a family of pattern and trial pieces that circulated only among mint officials. The Waryński freighter design itself commemorated the Polish merchant fleet's postwar reconstruction, a priority for the PZPR government in its drive to establish Poland as a maritime trading nation within the Eastern Bloc.
The brass trial pieces are catalogued under at least two distinct Fischer variants, suggesting more than one die pairing was tested at this weight.
