| Obverse description | Elaborate papal arms displayed on a cartouche-shaped shield, surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys, flanked symmetrically by olive and laurel sprigs. The shield bears the Braschi family arms of Pope Pius VI, rendered in fine relief with detailed heraldic engraving. The circular legend surrounds the entire design, with the mint master's initials G·P· positioned in the lower exergue beneath the shield. The overall composition is characteristic of the fine milled gold coinage produced at Bologna under papal authority. |
