| 表面の説明 | Intaglio portrait of President Mobutu Sese Seko in an oval vignette at left centre, wearing his characteristic leopard-skin toque and glasses, set against fine guilloche underprint in green and orange. The Banque du Zaïre coat of arms with the motto JUSTICE PAIX TRAVAIL appears below the portrait, while a leaping leopard vignette occupies the lower right corner. The denomination numeral '5' in multicolour guilloche fills the centre-right, with the bank title 'BANQUE DU ZAÏRE' in a decorative panel across the top and 'CINQ ZAÏRES' in bold letterpress below the numeral. |

The Banque du Zaïre was established in 1964 following independence-era monetary reorganization, replacing the Banque Nationale du Congo. By the time this note entered production, Mobutu Sese Seko had renamed the country Zaïre (1971) and the currency unit itself — the zaïre — had been introduced in 1967 at a rate of one zaïre to one thousand old francs. Giesecke & Devrient supplied much of the printing for the series throughout the 1970s.
The 30.06.1975 date listed in contemporary catalogs has never been confirmed in a documented example — Pick's own notation flagged it as unverified, and no specimen has since surfaced to resolve the question.
