Training notes issued by Chinese state banks occupy an odd position in collecting — officially ephemeral, never intended for circulation, yet produced with enough fidelity to the genuine article that they required careful controls. The Agricultural Bank of China issued teller practice sets to train counter staff in authentication and handling procedures, using notes close enough in construction to be useful but typically overprinted or serially marked to prevent misuse.
Whether this example carries such markings determines almost everything about its scarcity. Unmarked survivors are rarer and attract more scrutiny at auction.
