Reverse description The central field depicts a lively scene of Tang Dynasty polo players on horseback, rendered in detailed relief after historical artistic sources, with multiple riders and their mounts shown in dynamic motion pursuing the ball. In the upper register, a secondary frieze illustrates a procession of mounted figures approaching a palatial structure. To the right, an enlarged depiction of an early stirrup (马镫) is shown in profile, serving as the thematic focus of the series. The Chinese inscription 马镫 (stirrup) and the legend 始于公元三世纪 (originating in the 3rd century AD) appear in the right field. The denomination 5元 is inscribed in Chinese characters along the lower rim.
