Reverse description A young giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) is depicted seated on a tiled surface, facing left and holding a bamboo sprig with shoots visible in the upper left field. A small mint mark appears to the left within a rectangular panel. To the right, a stylized double-pagoda mint privy mark is visible within a ruled panel. The lower portion of the field is divided by a horizontal rule, with the Chinese inscription 含纯金1/20盎司 成色.999 (containing 1/20 oz pure gold, fineness .999) to the left and the denomination 5元 to the right. The legend 1/20 oz Au appears along the lower rim.
