The Farmers Bank of Chung-Chou (中州農民銀行) was a Communist-controlled regional institution operating in the Chung Yuan liberated area during the final phase of the civil war. This 1948 issue came at a moment when the People's Liberation Army had effectively secured most of Henan province, and the bank was functioning as a de facto monetary authority for territories no longer under Nationalist control — well before the People's Republic was formally proclaimed.
Notes from this regional Communist banking network were quickly superseded when the People's Bank of China consolidated all such local currencies in 1949. Most were withdrawn and destroyed, making survivors genuinely scarce.
