| Obverse description | Portrait of Sun Yat-sen in an oval frame at left, set against a red guilloche underprint with floral and geometric ornamental patterns. The large Chinese numeral denomination 伍圓 (Five Yuan) appears at centre within an elaborate rosette vignette, with a blank ornamental panel at right.
