Obverse description The obverse is dominated by a central intaglio portrait of Sun Yat-sen in three-quarter view, set against a fine guilloche underprint in rose-pink tones. The bank title 行銀國中 is inscribed in large Chinese characters across the upper register, with the denomination 圓伍 flanking the portrait on either side, and the denomination character 伍 repeated in each corner within ornamental panels. The lower margin carries the date of issue rendered in Chinese numerals, 中華民國三十年印, completing the composition within an elaborate repeating border.

Reverse description The reverse, printed in rose-pink, centres on an oval intaglio vignette of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, executed in fine line engraving. BANK OF CHINA arches across the upper margin, with the word FIVE in bold serif lettering occupying the upper field and the numeral 5 placed in each corner. The denomination 5 YUAN and date 1941 appear within a decorative cartouche at the foot of the design, and the printer's imprint AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY runs along the lower margin.
