| Opmerkingen |
P#814 belongs to the first series of Renminbi, issued by the People's Bank of China in the months surrounding the proclamation of the People's Republic in October 1949. The first series was printed under chaotic conditions by multiple print shops across different regions, and production quality varies considerably across the series as a result — not every note came from the same facility or used identical inks and paper stock.
First series RMB was officially demonetized in 1955 when the second series was introduced at a conversion rate of 10,000 old yuan to 1 new yuan. Survivors were supposed to be exchanged and destroyed, which is precisely why first series notes are now difficult to find in any condition.
