Obverse description Central vignette of Kim Yoon-shik in traditional Korean court dress, with the denomination numeral centred on the note. Bank name and exchange clause inscriptions in Chinese characters frame the design, with the Imperial Printing Bureau imprint at the foot.

(Translation: Banknote of the Bank of Chosen, Bank of Chosen, This banknote can be exchanged to Bank of Japan bonds and can be applied for five yen, Five Yen, Made by the Imperial Printing Bureau of Japan)
Reverse description The reverse is printed in rose-red on a light ground, centred on an ornate oval guilloche frame enclosing the denomination numeral '5' on each side and the Chinese character inscription 五圓 (Five Yen) at the base. Scrollwork and floral rosette ornaments fill the corners and border of the design.
