| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central motif featuring a stylized wheat or grain stalk rising from the lower field, rendered in moderate relief against a background of evenly spaced horizontal lines conveying a striated pattern. The denomination numeral '5' appears prominently in the upper right field. The currency legend 'XEROS CEROS' is inscribed to the left of the central motif in bold lettering. The overall design is geometric and modern in character, combining agricultural symbolism with a clean typographic layout. |

Montserrat's currency history is inseparable from the 1995 eruption of the Soufrière Hills volcano, which buried Plymouth — the island's capital — under pyroclastic flows and ash, displacing the majority of the population. The Eastern Caribbean dollar remained the official currency throughout, making any independent Montserratian coinage purely speculative. This pattern piece, never adopted for circulation, appears to reference a proposed indigenous unit that went nowhere administratively.
