Obverse description The national coat of arms of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea occupies the central field, depicting a hydroelectric dam and power transmission pylon beneath a radiant star, flanked by sheaves of rice bound with a ribbon bearing the state name in Hangul. The Hangul legend of the Central Bank encircles the upper periphery, while the weight mark '15g' and fineness '999' appear in the left and right fields respectively. The denomination '5 WON' is inscribed in Latin characters along the lower rim, flanked by two small sprigs.
