Opmerkingen

North Korea issues commemorative currency with some regularity, but this 5 Won note marking Kim Il Sung's centenary (born April 15, 1912) belongs to a series that was never intended for ordinary commercial use. These were produced as collectibles and distributed through diplomatic channels and state gift shops — not through the domestic banking system, where the 5 Won denomination would have had negligible purchasing power by 2012.

The CS designation in the Pick reference distinguishes it from regular-issue notes. Watermark-only security on a commemorative piece reflects modest production investment, consistent with how DPRK authorities have treated this format across multiple anniversary issues.
