Opmerkingen

North Korea has long maintained a tiered currency system designed to restrict economic activity by class and origin. The green stamp series, issued in 1983, was specifically designated for use by socialist-bloc visitors and workers — citizens of the USSR, China, Cuba, and other allied states — who were prohibited from using the red-stamp convertible won series reserved for capitalist-country visitors. The distinction wasn't symbolic; it controlled exactly where you could spend, and what you could buy.

Pick 19 is scarce relative to the red-stamp equivalents, largely because the socialist-visitor pool was smaller and notes were often repatriated or surrendered at departure.
