| Reverse description | Central field displays the Chinese characters 五圜 (Five Won) in bold, elegant strokes within a raised beaded circle. At the top of the field, above the inner circle, sits a stylized yin-yang (taeguk) symbol rendered in detail. Flanking the central circle on both sides are symmetrical sprays of plum blossoms with delicate buds and foliage, a traditional Korean decorative motif. At the base, the two floral sprays are tied together with a decorative ribbon bow. The entire design is enclosed within an outer beaded border, giving the reverse a refined and harmonious aesthetic characteristic of late 19th-century Korean pattern coinage. |
