Obverse description Light violet note printed in a combination of typographic and intaglio styles, with a vignette of Mercury at left and Zeus at right, each enclosed within decorative frames, and the colonial arms centred at lower register. The central field carries the denomination and guarantee clause in both Danish and English, with multiple manuscript signatures applied in accordance with the issuing authority. Issued under Royal Guarantee per Resolution of 4 April 1849.

Reverse description Light violet reverse executed in a plain typographic style, with the large numeral 5 appearing at both left and right flanking a central oval guilloche cartouche bearing the word FEM in bold serif lettering. The denomination is restated below in two lines, alternating Gothic and script typefaces, in both Danish and English.
