Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King George III facing right, rendered in high relief in the Baroque court style. The monarch's hair flows in naturalistic curls beneath the laurel wreath, with fine engraving capturing the folds of drapery at the truncation. The mint mark 'C' (for the Hanover Mint) appears at the base of the bust truncation. A Latin circular legend surrounds the effigy, reading GEORGIVS III D G M B F ET H REX F D C, abbreviated titles proclaiming him King of Great Britain, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, and Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg. The coin's denticulated border frames the composition neatly.
