Obverse description Equestrian portrait of Duke Friedrich Ulrich in full armour, facing right, mounted on a prancing horse with elaborate caparison, the duke holding a baton in his right hand. The figure is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the armour, lace collar, and horse trappings. The scene is set within a beaded inner circle, with the Latin ducal legend surrounding the equestrian group in the outer field.

Reverse description Elaborately rendered full achievement of arms of the House of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, comprising a large quartered shield surmounted by multiple crested helms with mantling, supported by two rampant lions on either side. The shield displays the numerous quarterings of the ducal territories in fine engraved detail. The mint master's initials HS appear at the top of the field, and the denomination numeral 5 is incorporated into the surrounding Latin legend, which also gives the date in Roman numerals.
