Obverse description Equestrian effigy of Duke August the Younger of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, bareheaded and clad in richly detailed full armour, mounted on a rearing horse facing right. A panoramic view of a city or mining landscape is depicted in the lower field beneath the horse, characteristic of the Löser series' elaborate pictorial compositions. The motto word TANDEN appears in the left field behind the Duke's head. A beaded inner circle frames the design, while the surrounding circular legend renders the Duke's full Latin titulature, separated by stops.
