| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Samoa is displayed centrally, featuring a quartered shield bearing a palm tree and waves in the upper half and five stars of the Southern Cross in the lower half, all set against a mirror-like proof field. The shield is encircled by a stylised globe and flanked by two olive or laurel branches. A Christian cross rises above the shield, reflecting the nation's motto. Part of a "Ten Commandments" series issued by Samoa through the New Zealand Mint, these pieces were produced as collector items with no circulation intent. The seventh commandment — prohibiting adultery — made this an unusual subject for a sovereign mint issue, and the series as a whole drew attention precisely because few national authorities have lent their name to explicitly scriptural coinage of this kind.
