Obverse description The obverse features a deeply sculpted, dome-shaped filigree field composed of intricate high-relief scenes depicting Revolutionary War soldiers, cavalry, cannons, muskets, crossed rifles, and floral motifs, with the gold-plated underside visible through the openwork design. At the centre sits a raised circular medallion bearing the Samoan coat of arms — a shield charged with the Southern Cross and a globe, surmounted by a cross, and encircled by a wreath — all rendered in antique finish. The legend SAMOA 2026 arcs above the central medallion, flanked by the specifications 2 OZ and AG 999 to either side. Below the coat of arms, a ribbon cartouche bears the national motto FA'AVAE I LE ATUA SAMOA, with the denomination $5 inscribed beneath.

Reverse description The reverse presents a spectacular concave, dome-shaped openwork relief entirely covered in 24-karat gold plating, forming a panoramic commemorative scene of American independence. At the centre, the Statue of Liberty stands in full figure, torch raised, set before a large rippling American flag rendered in bold relief. Radiating outward through the filigree are iconic American landmarks and patriotic symbols including skyscrapers, stars, and architectural elements, all framed by a border of fine decorative motifs. The date range 1776-2026, marking the 250th anniversary of American independence, is incorporated into the design.
