Part of a multi-coin "Ten Commandments" series issued by Samoa in the early 2010s, this piece belongs to a category of licensed religious themed commemoratives that proliferated through Pacific island minting programs during this period — jurisdictions with minimal domestic numismatic tradition but favorable licensing arrangements with European distribution houses, primarily operating through the Bavarian firm B.H. Mayer's Kunstprägeanstalt. The ninth commandment's prohibition on false witness gave the series its most legally charged subject.
